True Woman Ladies Luncheon

Life Action Ministries will be hosting a luncheon on Tuesday, January 31st. There is not a charge for this event and you will need to make reservations so we will know how many to plan for. A sign up list is in the lobby or you can email me, Beverly, at bevdill@suddenlink.net, to make your reservations.

A nursery will be available plus a study room for homeschool children. You will want to bring a lunch for them and their schoolwork.

I look forward to seeing you there and I'm excited to hear these two ladies, Maryann Loveing and Jennifer Slenk of Life Action.

Maryann Loveing is described as a God-centered, fun-loving wife by her husband, Ryan; and a joyful, sweet, interactive mother by her six children. Formerly focused on her career and success, and bound with hidden secrets that kept her discontented, Maryann has learned contentment and joy as she has served in ministry for ten years with her family. She now shares with women the freedom found in seeking and following God.

Jennifer Slenk God began a radical transformation in Jennifer’s life during a Life Action conference. As a result of personal revival, she has a passion to pursue God with a broken and surrendered heart. She shares regularly with women, out of a desire to see them meet with God in a life-transforming way. Jennifer and Ben and their children travel with Life Action throughout America, seeking the Lord for revival in individual lives, local churches, and the nation.

Buckner Family Home Christmas

The ladies of Kelview came through again. With the leadership of Susan Lilly and the Wednesday evening Bible study of Kelview University, the ladies provided a Christmas party for the moms and children of Buckner Family Homes. Everyone got to decorate a frame for the family picture that was taken that evening and then delicious snacks were served. A dramatization of Mary was the highlight of the afternoon. The Christmas story was told in a beautiful way. Then each child plus their mom was given a Christmas stocking filled with all kinds of special items. It was a special afternoon for some special families.

Thank you to everyone that worked so hard to put this together! It couldn't have been done without Susan and her heart for these moms and their children.

A Special Note From Beverly!

Ladies,

I remember as a 17 year old, a lady came to our church to speak to the women here at Kelview. Her name was Verna Birkey. I was planning on going with my mom. I had a friend who I asked if she were going and I will never forget what she told me. She said "No, I'm busy and besides, I've heard everything there is to hear anyway." Remember, we were teenagers at the time. :) I went and I still remember to this day some things that she said that day. I believe the message I heard from that lady all those years ago impacted me in a great way. Since that day, I have made it a point to listen and read after godly women who have a message for the women of the church.

I'm so thankful for a mom, who as a single mother, knew that in order for me to learn how to have a godly home as a wife and mother someday, I needed to sit under women who taught what a godly woman was. Mom wanted me to learn the things that she had never been taught.

I am thrilled that Pastor Berry and the staff support the idea of having women who are accomplished writers and speakers come share their message to the women of Kelview and the surrounding community. We have been so blessed to have some of the most popular speakers and authors come for our conferences and events over the last 8 years.

This year is no exception! Lysa Terkeurst speaks to sold out events all across our country. I truly hope that you plan on being there.
We have ladies coming from all over West Texas; Lubbock, Amarillo, San Angelo, Odessa, towns I've never heard of and even Roswell, New Mexico. We have one lady driving from Round Rock and a group from Austin.

Our Praise and Worship will be lead by Sisters. This is a group of three Sisters who travel and sing across the country. This is a great blessing to have this group take their time and come for our conference.

Moms if you have teenage daughters, I would make sure they were at the conference. How thankful I am, that my mom always included me in on teaching from godly women.
I did the same for my daughter. She has sat under some amazing women and listened to their teachings.

If you are an older woman, please don't miss out because you think you've heard it all and you are doing just fine. There are a lot of younger women that need to see you and fellowship with you.

If you are a younger woman, please don't think, "oh, that is for older women, I have too much to do to go and sit and listen to someone else." I promise you, you won't be sorry when you sit under a woman who has a message to the women of the church. And, guess what, the older women need to see you there and fellowship with you.

I love being around women of God who have realized that, it's not just about them. They realize that until the Lord returns, we are to care and encourage our sisters in Christ and to be constantly growing in Christ. The theme of our conference is "Becoming More." If you are like me, you strive everyday to become more of a godly woman each and every day. It isn't easy sometimes in a sin filled world. That is why we need each other, to encourage one another in our walk with Christ. Women's lives affect so many others, when a woman's heart is changed and encouraged, she can make a difference in her world.

I do hope I see you at the conference this coming weekend!

Operation Backpack

As a mission project for, A Woman's Heart, we will be hosting our 3rd Annual "Operation Backpack" on August 12th. A pizza party for the kids and a special time with the moms will take place and we would appreciate your prayers for the moms and kiddos. Each child will receive a backpack and lunch tote along with a gift card for school supplies. The babies and preschoolers will receive a diaper bag or small backpack. Thank you to all the ladies who jumped in and took a name of one of these precious children that are a part of the Buckner Family Home here in Midland. We even had a couple of men that took a name. Thank you so much for caring for these families!

Women of the Bible - You!

Hi Ladies!

How did you enjoy your last study in our book, Women of the Bible? What a great woman to read about, Priscilla! What a neat lady! We have a lot in common with her. She loved spreading the gospel. She was a faithful and loving wife and worked alongside her husband in making sure the message of Christ was spread.

A great question to think on from Wednesday's reading is, "What role do you think God wants you to play in advancing the gospel?" I would love to hear from you on this and I look forward to seeing great things happen through you!

I just returned from a leadership conference in Dallas. Sheri Rose Shepherd, was the keynote speaker and she made a statement that you might like to note as I did; "How do people feel after you have been around them?" This is including your husband, children, friends, neighbors, etc. Do you encourage them, lift them up, spread joy? Or do you, leave people in a state of depression, confusion, anger, etc. That is really something to think about and work on for all of us.

A portion of the prayer from our Friday reading states, "Enable me to be like Priscilla, whose faith grew despite her surroundings. Let the ripple effect of my faith build up your church."

Can we say that about ourselves? "Enable me to be like (your name), whose faith grew despite her surroundings. Let the ripple effect of my faith build up your church." Ouch! Yep, I have some work to do!

Attached your will find a form to fill out before our Celebration on Tuesday, August 16th at 6-8:30! You have a couple of weeks to work on it. Don't do like I do sometimes, by waiting until the last minute to get it together. Then it won't mean anything. Take a portion a day and really contemplate who you are and what you have to offer the Lord! I just got chill bumps! This is going to go so well with our conference that is coming up on the 26th, "Becoming More!" I can't wait to hear what Lysa Terkeurst has to say to us about becoming more than just an average girl trying to serve God. I don't know about you, but I want my time here on earth to be so much more than just existing and going through the usual things of life! I want to be so much more and I know you do too!

Summer Quiet Time Bible Study/Priscilla

Hi Ladies,

I hope you are having a great Monday!

Did you find encouragement in your study on Mary of Bethany? I love how this devotional brought out the idea of, "What have I done for Him?" We get so busy in our lives and we have our list of all the things we want and we thank Him for all that He has done for us, which is what I believe our Heavenly Father wants from us. But, at the same time, what have we done for Him? I like how the author's wrote; "You don't have to travel to the other side of the world to find opportunities to do something for God. Look for him in the poorest of the poor in your own community-those who are impoverished, isolated, ill. Find a way to bring the light of God's love in to their darkness.....Honor Him by giving him something precious in your own life. Even the smallest gesture can become a beautiful gift for God.

On another note, it doesn't have to be just to the poor in your community. It could be that person you pass in the hall at church, that just needs a kind word or a smile. Knowing that someone actually cares for them. It could be a family member who needs a hug or someone to look them in the eyes with care and time. We may be surprised how many are around us that don't really even have a personal relationship with Christ. We might be the one that Christ has chosen to share that gift, don't let it pass through your hands.

This week we are on to the study of, Priscilla. I have a feeling we are going to love this study on this amazing woman of the Bible. I can't wait!

Don't forget about our Celebration on the 16th of August! We will be having a great time together. You might want to be checking your recipes and seeing what you can bring for us all to sample. Think, summer, light, fun......tropical? :) You, also may want to bring a friend with you and that is perfectly fine, we would love to meet them! Next week, I will start receiving RSVP's so we will know how many to set up for. So, now is the time to check the calendar and to tell yourself, "Yes, I'm going to attend the end of our Bible Study Celebration on Tuesday, August 16th!" :)

Summer Quiet Time Bible Study/Hannah

Hi Ladies!

How is your study going this week, so far? I had an interesting revelation last Sunday. I bought my book, Women of the Bible, several years ago. It is a hardback and I never thought to get one of the new ones that we have had out for all of you to pick up for your Bible study. Renee Compton and I were talking about some of the questions from our study and we discovered that the book you are using has been updated and expanded. So, I got one of the newer books and realized there were many more questions in the older book that I had. Mine is from 1999 and the one you have was updated in 2007. Live and learn, again!

I love reading anything by Elizabeth George and whenever she comes out with a new book, (which seems once a month, she is one busy woman) I will buy it. Well, I bought one of her books recently and was so excited to read it and as I was reading, I kept thinking that it all sounded so familiar. After I investigated, I realized it was a book I already had, but the name was changed. Hello?! These are things I never thought to look for, but now, I think I will be more careful in looking at copyrights and reading the covers more often.

Now, on to our study on Hannah! My favorite part to read about so far is how Hannah will always be remembered as a woman of faith. "She is a woman of faith because she sought God when she was in her deepest distress, because she realized that only He could answer her questions and that only He could provide the consolation and purpose in life she so desperately sought." The question for ourself is, "Do we turn to God when we are distressed, or do we go to everyone else for answers until we get the counsel we like, or maybe we get on Facebook and seek answers before we go to our Heavenly Father?"

There was something else that popped out for me and that was on the subject of Peninnah. Wouldn't you hate to be the woman that was known for taunting Hannah? Ouch! Have you ever been taunted? Probably in elementary school and maybe even high school. The sad thing is, I have seen it in grown, supposedly mature Christian women. We need to remember that making fun and being cynical towards others is probably not the best way to be remembered. Being a woman of faith is so much more appealing than someone who hurts others with her words and actions.

Enjoy your study on Hannah this week. I love Friday's, Lift Your Heart, section! If you choose to do the suggested idea, you may want to plan on bringing it to the event in August, Celebrate Your Legacy!

Speaking of the event in August. If you will notice on your bookmark, it is set for, Thursday, August 18th. I also have realized that it is the same night that "Celebrate Recovery" meets. If this will be a conflict with you, will you please let me know. I'm not sure how many we have in our study that attends CR. I need to know as soon as possible so we can maybe change the date. So, check your calendar and let me know by the end of this week.

Next week, I will send you details for the, "Celebrate Your Legacy" night. It will be fun, you don't want to miss it! Hint: Hawaii?????

Hi Ladies!

I hope you are having a fun summer so far. Enjoy every second of it, because it is going fast, at least it is for me.

The highlights of last week for me were getting to go to Ruidoso for a few days and then attending church with our daughter, Patti and her family last Sunday, to see April and Oliver baptized together. Patti and Rodrick had led each one to the Lord a while back at different times and then they went to a class that teaches all about baptism at their church. So, last Sunday was the day they got to be baptized together. It was so cute and exciting to watch. As I was standing there by the baptism pool, I had flashes of when Patti was baptized at a young age. She asked Jesus in her heart at 4 and her daddy had the privilege of baptizing her. Nathan was 6 and it seems like just yesterday. Now, I'm watching my grandbabies, how can that be?

Did you enjoy your study of Miriam last week? I know I did! Makes you think twice about any murmuring and complaining, doesn't it? God has been so good to us, how can we complain and think we deserve so much more than we have already?

This week we are reading all about Rahab. I like this story as it shows how God is a forgiving God and will use any of us where we are when we put our faith and trust in Him. We don't have to be anyone special or be raised in a certain type of home, or even have a long line of Christians in our family. He uses us as we are and if you will always notice, he changes us, we don't keep living in the same lifestyle, He radically changes our hearts and our desires. I've seen that first hand in my life. My mother did not have a godly heritage to look back on and to view, she stepped out in total faith by herself and believed in a life changing God and from there, our legacy began. I asked Christ into my heart at 14 and I have never looked back. God has blessed beyond my comprehension. My husband, Jim, had a godly grandfather, who taught him the things of God and Jim has many remembrances of hearing the things of God. Jim accepted Christ as his Savior at 15. Together, we are now watching our grandbabies put their faith in Christ.

On today's reading (Wednesday) is a question that I think is really important. "What brave actions can you take to spare your loved ones from future difficulties and harm?" I would love to hear what you wrote in on that or are thinking. Just send me a note if you can and share that with me.

I also am a little stumped on a question the author's have for us. I would love to hear your input on that as well, if you have time. "Why would the house of a prostitute be a good place for the spies to go when they entered the city?" If anyone would like to share their insight, I would much appreciate it. :)

Have a blessed week and I pray that we all learn from Rahab and what God has for our life, right now, where we are, as we are, in the future and for our families.

Summer Quiet Time Bible Study #2

Our second week has started in our Summer Quiet Time Bible Study. This week we are reading all about The Proverbs 31 Woman. She is one of my favorites.

I noticed there were a few copies that haven't been picked up yet of your Bible study in the lobby. Be sure and get it as soon as possible. It is an easy and very informative book that will be a cinch to catch up on. Last week's lesson was on Eve.

At the end of this post, you will find a note from one of the author's of this study, Ann Sprangler. I sent it out on a note to all the participants of the study.

This “On-Your-Own/All-Together” Bible Study is made just for you!! You will get a weekly email “cheering” you on as we travel through together “on-our-own”. Then we will meet together for a celebration at the end of the summer. You can do this with a small group: friends, family, mother/daughter, or all on your own.

I've Been Published!

I heard a pastor on the radio yesterday say that the divorce rate is about 50% and it is even higher in the church. Not a good thing! My heart breaks for the children. I won't be silent anymore on this subject.

Shari Braendel in Midland!!!

Ladies,

Remember when we had Shari Braendel for our Holiday In Style event? Well, she is coming to Midland to Stonegate Fellowship! I am so excited!

Shari is fun and very wise in the area of fashion and dressing to honor our Savior! You don't want to miss it!

It will be held on April 15 and 16th at Stonegate Fellowship. Doors open at 6:00 pm for Hors d'œuvres and a free color analysis. The program begins at 7:00 and ends at 10:00 pm. We will have worship music, several fashion shows, and games for a chance at winning a week-end getaway. Our guest
speaker for this event will be fashion expert, Shari Braendel. Doors open saturday at 8:00 am for a light breakfast and color-analysis.
The morning program will begin at 9:00 and end around 12:00. There
will be no childcare for this event.
The cost is $10 and all tickets must be pre-bought. There will be no
ticket sales at the door.

The Mother-Daughter Cupcake Tea, is going to be a special time of celebrating who we are as women in Christ. We are all daughters. Most of all, we are daughters of the King of Kings!

Cupcakes and Tea are just a fun tool. We will have water and carrots for those that don't like tea and are on a diet. :) Just teasin', we will have celery, too. Can't beat a good cucumber sandwich either.

We want all of you to come and enjoy this special time with the ladies at Kelview.

Bring your mom's, daughters, friends, neighbors, family. If you come alone, you will not be alone once you get here, I promise!

Ladies, we are hoping you will bring little visitors from the age of 5 and up.

Teresa will be hosting our fashion show for us and all ages will be included.

A Woman's Heart Cares Event...

What a great time was had at our Annual, A Woman's Heart Cares. Our guest speaker for the evening was, Carla Smith. Carla is a pastor's wife from Tru-Lite Fellowship here in Midland. Oh my, how I wish everyone could have been there. But for the 125 women who were, what a blessing we all received. She is not only a beautiful singer, but will challenge you as a woman who can accomplish great things for our Saviour! Our ladies are still talking about Carla and her message! Thank you Carla, for taking the time to come speak and sing for us. You are being used by God in a mighty way.

We also had a Chocolate Extravaganza! Our ladies each brought something chocolate. I don't think anyone overdosed on chocolate, but we did enjoy.

Door prizes are always a regular and fun part of our evenings together. How come I never win one?

I was so excited, our new trio, Simply Grace sang for us. Simply Grace will be our official group for our women's ministry, A Woman's Heart! Thank you, Coleen Catalano, Teresa Patteson and Christie Hamilton! Must be fun to be able to sing so beautiful.

My friend, Kathy Howard, has a new Bible study out that I think you will all love! This is Kathy's third study. Enjoy this short interview with Kathy!

Kathy, what prompted you to write on this particular topic?

Over the last few years, many Christian women I love and admire have endured difficult circumstances such as life-threatening illness, divorce, death of a child, and financial hardship. The quality of their faith significantly affected how they endured these trials and how God worked in them for His glory. God strengthened and guided them through their close relationship with Jesus.

Their experiences made me wonder how I would do in the same circumstances. Like most women, I manage to juggle the everyday things of life – work, family, ministry, and home life – without too much difficulty. But sometimes, even in just a small crisis, my self-sufficiency is shaken. Would I stand firm in really hard times or would these trials knock me flat? I began to ask God to show me how my faith could be prepared.

So why Peter? Why is he a good example for us to study?

Peter was just an ordinary man, a fisherman. He worked hard. He had a family and friends. Peter was passionate and a natural leader, but he was also headstrong and impetuous. Peter had sworn to follow Jesus unconditionally, no matter the circumstances. Yet on the night Jesus was betrayed, his faith wavered and he denied His Lord. But then several decades later Peter willingly faced martyrdom rather than deny Him again. This study is about what made the difference in Peter’s faith. Unshakeable Faith looks closely at Peter’s life and teachings to discover some of the key characteristics God built into his faith that helped him stand firm in the face of death. That’s the kind of faith I want to have.

What’s unique about this study?

I love to study God’s Word. Learning about God, His ways, and what He desires for us is wonderful. But if we don’t apply what He teaches us, let it shape our lives, then we fall short of the full purpose of study. Unshakeable Faith not only leads readers into learning God’s Word, but it also purposefully helps readers apply it. In addition to each week’s application section, there is a “Faith Shaker” story that helps us see how that faith trait works in real life. These stories are about real women who have faced a life trial with which many readers will relate. Readers get to see how their faith keeps them standing firm. A strong faith in Jesus Christ doeswork in real life!

A Woman's Heart Cares

Our February 2011 event is almost here. I do hope you will join us! In February of each year, our church has Mission Emphasis Month. Each week a missionary that we support will speak about their ministry in different parts of our world. I love missionaries! I can't even imagine how that feels to leave the safety of our country and go and serve in a foreign land. How thankful I am for people that answer the call on their lives to go and share the gospel far away and in conditions that may not be the best.

That is why each February in our Women's Ministry, we focus on what women can do to make a difference in our world.

As a teen at Kelview, each Wednesday night we would have a missionary show their slides of the country they served in. It was always one of my favorites. When I was about 15, I felt the Lord was dealing with me about going to another country and serving as a missionary......I will have to tell that story later.

In the mean time, the main point of this post is to invite you to A Woman's Heart Cares! Carla Smith who is the wife of pastor Roy Smith at Tru-Lite Fellowship here in Midland, will be speaking and singing for us. I can't wait to hear what the Lord has laid on her heart to share with us. Be praying for her as she prepares her message.

Oh, in case you haven't heard, we will be having a Chocolate Extravaganza! All of our ladies are encouraged to bring something chocolate for us all to sample! I have a plan for something that I've wanted to try for a long time. Hopefully, I can pull it off! (No, it isn't my chocolate fountain that I destroyed a couple of years ago!)

You don't want to miss out on this special evening of our Annual Tour Homes. This year we are adding something special along with our ornament exchange when we return to the church at 8 p.m.

As most of you know, a very special lady, Vickey Banks was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer in September. In order to help the Banks family out with medical bills, we will be hosting an Apron Silent Auction.

The gym will be set up all day on Friday where you can go by anytime and place your bid on the apron(s) of your choice. I've seen some cute ones that are going to be in the auction! The bidding will be cut off at a certain time that evening while we view a short demonstration of a floral arrangement by Dona Berry. This arrangement will also be auctioned off. You will have the opportunity to donate money if you don't bid or win your bid.

You are probably saying, "Where are you going to get all of your aprons?" Good question. From YOU! (and me) :)

Please have your aprons turned in by Sunday, December 5th. There will be a shopping bag at the Women's Ministry table in the lobby you can put your apron in and we will display it for you.

Cheryl McLaughlin will be in charge of the silent auction. Thank you Cheryl!

Refreshments will be served when you return from your Tour of Homes.

It's that time again! I'm so excited about our event that will be coming up Monday, November 1st at 6:30.
This event has turned out to be one of the favorites for the ladies at Kelview and their friends and family.

We will have a room full of holiday decorated tables with everything from the china to the most beautiful centerpieces! I always wait with anticipation to see what decor LaRue Skaggs, Christy Smith and Samantha Blackwood come up with for our platform.

We will have a delicious catered meal by Alice Perales and her husband; the menu sounds yummy!

Teresa Patteson will be in charge of the fashion show this year, which the fashions will be provided by Dillard's. I love their holiday clothes!

Door prizes are always one of our favorite things on the agenda!

Our guest speaker is Shari Braendel! I can't wait for everyone to meet her and hear her message she has prepared for us! She will be bringing her books, so be on the lookout for her resource table. Go to her website and check out all that she has to offer, you will love it!

The Leopard Pumpkin!

I had some ladies ask me about it, so, here it is. :) Jim passed through the living room and took a double take and said "Where did that come from?" I said, "Oh, it was in my decorating closet, waiting for Fall to arrive." I can't tell if he likes it or not. When Nathan saw it, he laughed, shook his head and said "Oh Madre, what are we going to do with you?" (*He began calling me Madre when he took spanish in high school.)

Hi Ladies,

How did your last two weeks go? I'm getting positive reports from several of you and some are still missing in action. Are you out there?

This week I began a workout plan with my son. He has been working out for several years and I finally am brave enough to let him work me out. He is now my trainer. This could be dangerous because he has been dying to train me for some time now. All I know is he looks a little too happy about all of this, so please pray for me. :)

I don't know if you remember when Leslie Dunn came in our class and announced she would be starting a Boot Camp on Saturday mornings. Well, the class has started and it isn't too late for you to join her. I'm sure you will gain much knowledge from her as well as a good workout. She is very good at what she does and what a treat to have her lead this boot camp. You would probably have to pay lot's of money for something like this. If you can and it works in your schedule, try to take her class.

Below you will find her note that was sent out recently:

Calling all ladies! As some of you have already heard, I will be hosting a FREE Boot Camp this summer at the church. The first meeting will be on Saturday,June 5th at 9am and we will meet in the gym. The camp will be lots of fun and a VERY good workout. Please respond to this email if you plan on attending this first class so I can begin preparing the right amount of exercises based on the number of ladies that will attend! I will need for each of you to sign a waiver before you can participate, because you will be doing these activities at your own risk. I promise I will not give you anything that is too hard! There will be a hard version and a modified version of each exercise so anyone of any fitness level should be able to join in. All you need is a positive attitude, a good pair of tennis shoes, some comfy workout clothes, a water bottle and towel!

I know just how hard it is to feel good in my own skin and I want to help you reach your goals by showing you some things you can do at home, at the park or in the gym! We all have to start somewhere so let your beginning be here with us this summer! I will also be happy to answer any questions you might have about proper nutrition and/or anything else within the realm of health and fitness! I love the thought of helping people get fit, so please let me help you on your journey! Remember there may be some of you who only have 5 to 10 pounds to lose and then there may be others who need to lose a bit more than that! We are all there to support one another and watch each other succeed!

This is a LADIES only class! No men allowed! If you know any of the younger girls who are wanting to participate, please note that I am limiting the class to High School Graduates and up only. Thanks for helping me with this!

Our husbands need all the encouragement they can get and if they haven't received that from their wives, how sad (and dangerous) that would be. We might see some changed homes for those that are serious about having a godly marriage and home. After 30-days it will probably be a good habit to continue on with, you won't even have to think about it.

Beverly: Many people in today’s culture don’t believe truth exists, that at best it’s relative. Why does the title of your new Bible study imply just the opposite?

Kathy: The desire to be our own boss and decide truth for ourselves comes from our flawed human nature. But, we can’t wish away absolute truth simply because we may not like it. If an all-powerful, Creator God exists – and there is plenty of evidence, including scientific evidence to support His existence – then He has the absolute right to decide absolute truth. The wonderful thing is we can know this truth and we can know God. God has revealed His truth about life, faith, and eternity to us in the Bible.

Beverly: What compelled you to write a book on this subject?

Kathy: It was simple need. God was sending people to our church who had never studied the Bible before. They wanted to know about Jesus and Christianity but they were starting at square one. I researched the available materials and even used some. However after teaching a couple of groups of spiritual seekers I realized the material was insufficient for their needs. It did not answer all their questions. It did not take them far enough or challenge them to make a decision for Christ. So, I began to write to fill the need.

Beverly: What is the main theme or point that you want readers to walk away with?

Kathy: The sole purpose of this book is to guide people into a relationship with Jesus. Every individual needs to be reconciled to God through a relationship with Jesus Christ. We were created by God and for God. This life is incomplete without Him and eternity hangs in the balance.

Beverly: What makes your book different than other books similar to yours that are in circulation today?

Kathy: God’s Truth Revealed is grounded in Scripture. Instead of using questions about faith and life to determine the course of the book, GTR uses God’s story from Creation to the beginning of the Church to clearly and systematically present the Gospel. In doing so, the questions about life are also answered.

God’s Truth Revealed understands that faith in God is not illogical. The study provides historical evidence and facts to support creation, the reliability of the Bible, and the life of Jesus. In fact, the first lesson explores the existence of God and the meaning of faith. I am certainly not an expert in apologetics or science but the book is filled with facts and information from people who are.

Each session also includes the story of a real person’s spiritual journey. For instance, in the first session we meet Victor who was raised by an atheist father. Even though he grew up being told there is no God he always sensed there was something greater than this physical life. We hear all about Victor’s searching and spiritual journey and how He ultimately found Jesus. We also meet Greg who grew up in the church but didn’t know Jesus until he was an adult. And there’s Karen who lived for years with her husband in the spiritual darkness of a nudist camp until God’s light found her.

All these stories emphasize that each person’s spiritual journey is unique. God’s truth is the same, but He finds each of us where we are and then draws us to where He is.

Beverly: Tell me a little more about yourself, your writing and ministry.

Kathy: I’ve been married for 26 years. We have three children and one wonderful son-in-law. My husband’s job has moved us five times. Currently, I am on staff at our church in West Texas. I have a passion for studying and teaching God’s Word, which I have been doing for twenty years. A number of years ago God led me to better equip myself for His calling. I enrolled in seminary and graduated in 2004 with a Masters in Religious Education and a certificate in Women’s Ministry.

My first Bible study, Before His Throne, was released in January 2008. This in-depth study explores the book of Malachi to discover the joy and blessing of fearing God. I also have a third study in the works that’s due to be released early in 2011.

Brief Bio:

Kathy Howard, a Bible study author and speaker, has been teaching the Bible for over 20 years. She’s taught a wide range of topics to an even wider range of students – everything from basic Bible stories at a middle school to teacher training for church leaders. Kathy particularly enjoys speaking at women’s events and retreats to encourage them in their faith. She has a Masters in Christian Education from the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary and serves on a church staff in West Texas.

Kathy and her husband have three children and one son-in-law. When the family gets together there are also four dogs in the mix. Kathy writes to have something to do while drinking coffee. A New Year, A New You is a mini retreat day here at Kelview on Saturday, January 30th. Mark your calendar now so you won't miss out.

Several workshops will be available for you to choose from throughout the day. Workshops on marriage, parenting, relationships, organizing, hospitality, writing, dressing for success, healthy living and many more will be among your choices.

We will also have what we are calling our "Girlfriend Mall." 20 plus vendors will be here to let us shop everything from jewelry, home decor items, hair bows to vitamins.

Girlfriend Cafe will be open for a lite breakfast and lunch. The menu sounds delicious!

To top the day off, Kathy Howard of Midland will be our keynote speaker to give us our final charge in making 2010 the most powerful year we've ever had. Kathy has written and had two Bible studies published. Check her out at her site www.kathyhoward.org

I'm excited and can't wait to hear all that is being prepared!

Victory BABES is coming to KU this session. BABES stands for Beautiful Accountable Babes Exercising Sensibility. Victory BABES is a weight loss program developed by the women's ministry director, Barb Swanson, of Victory Church in Oklahoma City. Barb developed the program and then lost 50 pounds and now we are able to participate in our own group here at Kelview.

I'm excited to begin the Victory BABES program and I hope as many of you that want to and can will join us each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. in room #132.

You will be able to purchase your workbook for $15.00 and a journal for $10.00.

This will be a fun and exciting class and I can't wait to see you there! I know great things will happen both spiritually and physically.

New Class for Single Moms Beginning

Begins Sunday, November 1st at 6:30. Room 136 (Singles Class)

*Childcare Provided

A study for single moms wanting to improve their skills in all the areas involved in being a single mom, along with a a Bible study that will grow you into a woman of purpose. Each woman will be assigned a mentor/friend who will be her encourager on this journey as women of purpose.

Kelview University for Women provided a class for women who are interested in polishing up their speaking skills. This class began two weeks ago and there is still plenty of room if you would like to join in. The line-up of sessions are as follows.

Fall Share Fair Pictures

The Fall Share Fair was amazing. The decorated tables were absolutely beautiful! Thank you to all the table hostesses, you are so talented! Also a big thank you to each of the ladies that shared their ministry. Several ladies commented that they didn't realize Kelview had so much to offer. Several new volunteers were gained as well as interest in getting involved in a particular ministry.

The door prizes were a hit! Thank you to the Leadership Team for providing such great gifts!

Jezel Cain sang beautifully and Cheryl brought a perfect message on why women's ministry is important.

We can't forget the food. The ladies of Kelview can cook and make a beautiful presentation too!

Fall Share Fair

Ladies,

Mark your calendar for Monday, August 31st. The fun will begin at 7 p.m. This is our kick-off for the new season of women's ministry. Can you believe we are starting our 6th year?

You will be able to view a booth for each ministry for women that Kelview has to offer. This is a great time to hear and visit with each ministry leader.

What is even better is the yummy food! Ladies will be bringing their favorite Fall dish! (with something in it of course) :) My specialty is a Pumpkin Dip. I found the cutest pumpkin dish to put it in. O.k., so I got the idea out of a magazine a couple of years ago, but it really is good!

Be sure to sign up in the Summit so we can know how many to prepare for. Remember, your friends are always welcome at all of our events! LaRue and her decorating team are already getting the fall decorations out. We will pretend there is a little Fall chill in the air.

New Bible Study Begins

Wednesday, July 15th at 6:30, Kelview Heights Baptist Church will offer several new study courses and one of them will be especially for women. "8 Choices That Will Change a Woman's Life" by Jill Briscoe, will be taught by Dee Holly.

This is a book that was recommended in our newsletter, "Heart Talk." If you bought this book and haven't read it yet, this will the perfect time to read it and go through it as Dee teaches.
